"These are services, achievements and a tradition that we are all proud of at Carl’s Shoes and are committed to continuing and improving." Carl Barone, C. Ped

When Carl Barone opened his shoe store on Main Street in the historic community of Moorestown in 1958, he did so with a philosophy that has remained unchanged: he wanted to ensure that all his customers had shoes that actually fit.

The motto of Carl’s Shoes Inc., then as now, is “Where Shoes Are Fitted…Not Just Sold.”

Comfort Counts

“Many people do not realize that their foot changes over the years, so the shoe that fit when a person was 20 may not be the right size 10 or 15 years later,” Carl Barone says. That’s why, at Carl’s Shoes, sales personnel measure every customer every time. A record of shoe sizes are retained in the store’s files. According to Carl, 75 percent of his first time customers come in wearing the wrong size shoe.

The success of Carl’s Shoes—a family owned and operated business since its inception—proved that indeed comfort and fashion were compatible in the shoe industry. Comfort footwear has made great strides over the years. New technology has enabled footwear to be lighter, more flexible, and more shock absorbent, but the best-looking and the best-made shoes will not be comfortable unless they are properly fitted.

Fashion and Comfort, too

At Carl’s Shoes, you can find the best shoes the industry has to offer. The store carries a complete line and wide variety of shoes from the world’s top manufacturers. You can find your favorite colors and styles from such respected labels as SAS, UGG, Allen Edmonds, Bostonian, Nike, New Balance, Stride Rite, Munro, Trotters and scores more! And remember, Carl Barone stands behind the shoes you stand in.

Avoid Foot Problems

The U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health both urge consumers to “wear comfortable shoes that fit.” This makes good common sense to Carl Barone and his staff of professionals. It is estimated that people walk between 7,000 and 10,000 steps every day. In fact, studies show that three out of four Americans experience a serious foot problem at least once in their lifetime. ”Many foot problems—in people of all ages—can be prevented, or alleviated, by properly fitted shoes,” Carl Barone explains. “When your feet feel good, you feel good.”

Comfort at Any Age

Growing children outgrow shoes quickly—sometimes more quickly than parents recognize. At Carl’s, parents can be assured that every child can get exactly the right shoes to accommodate their hyper- active lifestyles. That goes for seniors, too. The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons™ reports that “There is a common misperception that growing older means having to cope with sore feet all the time. The nation’s foot and ankle surgeons disagree and believe seniors shouldn’t be resigned to accepting foot pain as a consequence of aging.” Carl’s shoe experts are experienced at serving the special foot needs of seniors, as well as men and women of all ages.
